Pay Scale: New Security Control Specialists start at a Level I pay rate of $20.00/hour. As they progress through the designated steps of the professional development plan, their pay will increase up to $23.25 an hour (Level II $21.75/hour and Level III $23.25/hour. Shift Information: Generally, three 12-hour shifts and one 4-hour shift per week. Day shift (6:00am-6:00pm) or night shift (6:00pm-6:00am). There are two main work weeks: Sunday – Wednesday and Wednesday – Saturday. Shift pick is every six months. Security Control Specialists work a variety of shifts including days, swings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Working shift work means that you may miss family holidays, birthdays, children's activities and other similar events. Security Control Specialists rotate shifts every six months. There is also the possibility that the shift will change in the middle of a rotation to meet the needs of the agency.

Law Enforcement Records Specialists work in one of three areas: Court Support Team, Inmate Records Team, or Inmate Processing Team. Court Support: Works very closely with Patrol Deputies/Officers, managing Warrants, No-Contact Orders and Protection Orders. Inmate Records: Works closely with Detention Deputies and Patrol Deputies/Officers from all agencies in Ada County. Inmate Records manages court paperwork, video court, and inmates' records. They also scan documents and handle a high volume of customers at our front counter. Inmate Processing: Works with Patrol Deputies/Officers from all agencies and Detention Deputies. Inmate Processing manages booking of inmates and is responsible for securing inmate property, running criminal histories for classification of inmates and provides customer service in our jail lobby. All three of these positions require skills in customer service, typing, and data entry. No degree or experience required. You will attend a 5-week training academy. Work is performed under well-established guidelines set forth by State and Federal law. The scope of work requires a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, organization, and attention to detail. These positions interact extensively with law enforcement officers, the courts, attorneys, and jail management staff. These positions are in the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, Administrative Services Bureau. New Law Enforcement Records Specialists will start out at a Level I pay rate of $19.50/hr. As new Law Enforcement Records Specialists acquire the required skills, they have the opportunity to promote to a Level II pay of $21.50/hr. (usually occurs within the first year) and then to a Level III pay of $23.50/hr. SHIFT INFORMATION Law Enforcement Records Specialists work 40 hours a week. Shifts vary and are based upon which of the three areas a technician is assigned to. Must be able to work all shifts, including nights, days, weekends, and holidays but will be assigned to a shift for a period of time. Must be able to work up to 11.5 hours a day.

Physical Agility Test and Written Test Required (August/September 2026 in Boise, Idaho – If selected, a $25 written test fee will apply. To attend testing, you must receive an invitation via email from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office). Interviews will be held the day after testing in Boise, Idaho. Selected candidates will attend the ACSO POST Academy beginning early January 2027. Academies run approximately 19 weeks and include daily physical training. General Summary: Supervises and maintains custody of inmates and provides security for the Ada County Jail. The incumbent uses personal judgment in the performance of duties, referring unusual, unique, or complex issues to the sergeant for advice and guidance. Shift Information: Day shift (6:48am – 7:00pm) or Night shift (6:48pm – 7:00am). Work week is four 12-hours shifts, then four days off (2,220 hours per year). Shift pick every six months. The jail is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This position requires you to work weekends, nights and holidays. Job Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent; - Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire; - Must be a citizen of the United States: - Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; - Ability to supervise and communicate with inmates; - Ability to hear, listen to, and understand radio transmissions using an ear piece; - Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; - Ability to take criticism and verbal abuse from inmates and their visitors without reacting in a negative manner and project an image of self-confidence and control; - Ability to subdue and restrain a combative inmate; - Ability to evaluate and recognize potentially adverse or unsafe situations and react according to department policy; and - Ability to perform the duties of the position without a direct threat to the health or safety of the incumbent or others. Other Requirements: - Must pass a written exam, the POST physical agility test, a polygraph exam, background investigation, medical exam, and a psychological evaluation; - Must become POST certified as a Detention Officer within one year of employment; - Must be able to obtain and maintain an Idaho Driver's License; - This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing.

An Ada County Emergency Vehicle Upfitter Technician performs upfits to all Ada County Sheriff’s Office and/or Ada County’s vehicles. Work is performed under well-established manufacturer’s guidelines and safety guidelines set forth by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office. The scope of work requires a high degree of accuracy, organization and attention to detail. This position is located in the Ada County Sheriff's Office, Administrative Services Bureau. SHIFT INFORMATION: The shop operates seven days a week, with staff scheduled to work four 10-hour shifts. Essential Functions: - Upfits builds on light duty trucks cars, boats, buses, motorcycles UTV and PWC; - Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot modern vehicle electronic and mechanical systems; - Understands automotive 12-volt system, proper diagnostics of 12 volt systems, and how to manipulate onboard vehicle system to meet agency needs; - Can read and understand complex manufacture specific wire diagrams; - Design, fabricate and install custom brackets, mounts, and hangers for police equipment; - Prepare new patrol or detective vehicles for service; - Install specialized law enforcement law enforcement equipment, including overhead lights, sirens, radios, wiring harnesses, partitions, shotgun racks and wig-wag headlight systems; - Changes, rotates and repairs tires ensuring proper wheel balancing; - Replace front and rear brakes, repack wheel bearings, and bleeds brake systems as required; - Perform manufacture scheduled maintenance; - Conduct routine maintenance and servicing including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid flushes and lubrication.

Performs skilled financial tasks to maintain approximately 3,000 individual trust accounts; performs other duties related to service of Civil Process as set forth in Idaho Code. The work is performed in most instances under general supervision and the incumbent makes independent decisions in most cases. The position is located in the Ada County, Sheriff's Office, Court Services Bureau, Civil Division. Essential Functions: - Reconciles all trust and bank accounts as assigned; - Receives and applies funds daily to proper trust accounts; - Daily maintains and balances departments tills and cash funds; - Daily reconciles funds and forwards to the Finance Department; - Processes and maintains compliance with unclaimed funds procedures; - Prepares and distributes monthly reports of the Civil Division’s financial activities; - Maintains electronic financial records within Laserfiche; and - Performs other related duties as required.
