Southern Idaho Regional Communications (SIRCOMM) is a regional 911 PSAP providing 24/7/365 dispatch services to 42 law, fire, and EMS agencies throughout the Magic Valley in south central Idaho. Located in Jerome, SIRCOMM is central to both rural and urban areas, with nearby attractions such as the Snake River Canyon and the Perrine Bridge, which provide the backdrops for adventure-seekers with B.A.S.E. jumping, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, camping, cave exploring, and sight-seeing locations such as Evel Knievel's 1974 launch site for his famous attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon. This also includes creating new training procedures as needed, with the possibility of hosting onsite training for other agencies. - Oversee the SIRCOMM ILETS TAC team to ensure all aspects of this position are being followed according to BCI, CJIS, FBI, and ILETS policies. - Meet on a regular basis with shift supervisors; meet on a regular basis with CTOs. - Assist the Administrative Assistant in providing needed supplies for the dispatch floor. - May be expected to be competent in working all dispatch positions. - Clearly communicate orally and in writing to all subordinate personnel, the Director, and the JPB. - Maintain all records and reports relative to the dispatch floor. - Serve as custodian of records. - Approve or deny all time keeping records whether written or electronic for dispatch personnel and provide these to the Director for payroll processing. - Report to the Director any item that needs fixed or updated. - Use the SIRCOMM email system to communicate with all employees. - Maintain the SIRCOMM Quality Assurance (QA) & Professional Development Plan (PDP) programs. - Assist Director with preparations for and attendance to Joint Powers Board meetings; Attend meetings and/or perform other appropriate duties as assigned by the Director.

The principal function of an employee in this class is to perform investigation and evidence analysis to resolve criminal incidents and complaints. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary function of an Emergency Communication Officer (E.C.O.) is to answer emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance and information. Must evaluate and process requests for emergency and non-emergency service in a fast, courteous, and efficient manner using computers, multi-line telephone, radio, or 911 systems. The E.C.O. relays information to emergency response personnel, performs emergency medical dispatch, crisis intervention services and maintains contact with callers until responders arrive. The E.C.O. requires strong communication skills and the ability to provide lifesaving instructions when needed. The E.C.O. will determine and assign the calls priority level, enter data into a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) operating system, scan responder status, and record details about the call. Enters and modifies information into local, state, and national computer databases. The principal duties of this position are performed in an office environment in which the employee may be subject to stressful and emotional situations. Emergency Communication Officers must work varying hours including night, weekend and/or holiday shifts in a general 24-hour office environment. The current 40-hour work week includes a 10 or 12-hour shift and a three-day weekend every other week. Shifts begin at either 6:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. and schedules change from days to nights at two-month intervals. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment; have a high school diploma or G.E.D. and have no disqualifying criminal history.
