Summary The Chief of Police oversees the administration, planning, and management of all police department operations, ensuring public safety and the effective enforcement of laws within the City. Qualifications • Education: • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field; • and/or • FBI National Command Course (NCC) • Experience: • Minimum of 10 years of progressive law enforcement experience with at least 5 years at a command or managerial level, i.e. Lieutenant or above, GS-11 or above • Proven experience in strategic planning, community engagement, and public safety leadership. • Completion of advanced law enforcement leadership programs is highly desirable. • Certification: Must hold or be able to obtain Advanced and/or Management Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification within 12 months of employment.
