Summary The Chief of Police oversees the administration, planning, and management of all police department operations, ensuring public safety and the effective enforcement of laws within the City. Qualifications • Education: • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field; • and/or • FBI National Command Course (NCC) • Experience: • Minimum of 10 years of progressive law enforcement experience with at least 5 years at a command or managerial level, i.e. Lieutenant or above, GS-11 or above • Proven experience in strategic planning, community engagement, and public safety leadership. • Completion of advanced law enforcement leadership programs is highly desirable. • Certification: Must hold or be able to obtain Advanced and/or Management Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification within 12 months of employment. The Bingham County 9-1-1 Center provides call-taking and dispatch services to the Sheriff's Office, two Police Departments and five Fire/EMS agencies, answer emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire and medical services, obtain and document pertinent information pertaining to those calls for service, provide pre-arrival instructions, determine types of assistance needed and dispatch emergency services personnel, monitor and document all emergency personnel location and activities at all times, coordinate and document responses from outside agencies, process and enter all reports into the National Crime Information Center. No experience necessary, all training and certifications are provided on the job.
