The following is a list of requirements to be eligible to hold the position of Patrol for the Custer County Sheriff’s Office.  Must sign a 2-year employment contract with Custer County.  Must complete and file a current employment application.  Must pass a complete background check  Must complete a Custer County employment interview  Must take and pass CCSO Patrol written exam within 6 months of hire.  Must take and pass CCSO Patrol practical testing within 6 months hire.  Must satisfactorily perform duties of CCSO Patrol for a 1-year probationary period.  Must maintain a valid Idaho Driver’s License.  Must be willing and able to attend the Idaho POST Patrol Academy within 1 year of employment with Custer County Sheriff’s Office.  Normal hearing and correctable vision required. Must possess physical strength and ability to restrain and control persons and ability to physically defend self. This position requires the ability to lift or assist in lifting of injured persons.  Must take and pass the POST physical testing requirements.  Must possess ability to solve problems and determine appropriate course of action.  Must possess ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrams or schedule forms.  Must possess ability to use independent judgment and react quickly in emergency situations.  Requires the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with other law enforcement staff, other county employees, other law enforcement agencies and the public. Responding to calls and providing backup.  Be available as needed to cover calls and assist with coverage shifts for the Custer County Sheriff’s Office.
